AtTheShore.com (& DownTheShore.com) is a consolidation of two former sites, CMNJ.com (Cape May County) and ACNJ.com (Atlantic County), into a regional comprehensive 'AtTheShore' site. It will also be adding LBINJ.com (Ocean County).

The site integrates sale listings (IDX), tax records, past sales and rentals using propietary software from sites like TaxRecords.com, WeeklyRentals.com, PiNGThisPage.com and Tenant.com, as well as many third party vendors.

Choosing the best focal length cam depends on how far you are from the subject and how much width of the view you want.

We typically use 4mm, 6mm, 8mm and 12mm focal length cams and experiment with all of them when on location.

Typically you put your cams behind a firewall/router and allow forwarding of RTSP 554 port to each respective cam.

49. What settings should I use on a HIKVision cam?

Firstly, we set the cams IP to and internal IP in our local network:

  1. HikVision's SADP program
Secondly, we typically set our HIK Vision cam settings (Advanced Configuration) to:
  1. Security -> User
  2. Network -> TCP/IP
  3. Network -> UPnP
  4. Network -> DDNS (if necessary - non-static IP connections)
  5. System -> Time Settings
  6. Video/Audio -> Video
  7. Image -> OSD Settings
  8. Image -> Display Settings -> Image Adjustment
  9. Image -> Display Settings -> Exposure Settings
  10. Image -> Display Settings -> Backlight Settings
  11. Image -> Display Settings -> Image Enhancement
  12. Image -> Display Settings -> Video Adjustment
Thirdly, we forward local RTSP (#554) ports to external ports in our router:
  1. Port Forwarding
Lastly, we typically test the RTSP ports using a media player like VLC:
  1. Media -> Open Network Stream
    • using the local IP (no port # required)

      For Example - rtsp://user:password@192.168.1.120

    • using the external IP (port # required) OUTSIDE of the local network

      For Example - rtsp://user:password@88.89.90.91:554

The live streaming cams have been tested and readily work with:

On Google Chrome, you may need to disable 'Use Hardware Acceleration' -

  • Settings (3 bars on top right)
  • Advanced Settings (bottom of page)
  • uncheck 'Use hardware acceleration when available' (bottom of page)
  • close and then reopen chrome
